Quick Reference Guide: FSAFED Paperless Reimbursement for M.D. IPA Enrollees

M.D. IPA has partnered with the FSAFEDS (health care flexible spending account) Program to implement paperless reimbursement of many federal flexible spending account expenses. This program eliminates the need for you to manually prepare and submit many of your out-of-pocket costs to FSAFEDS. Now, not only can you save money with your FSA, you save valuable time as well.

Important Information

If you are enrolled under the FSAFEDS Paperless Reimbursement Program, M.D. IPA will electronically forward to SHPS1 the following out-of-pocket expenses that you, or your eligible dependents, incurred under your M.D. IPA FEHB enrollment from your effective date in the paperless reimbursement program, including:

  • Inpatient and outpatient facility copayments
  • Copayments for specialist visits
  • Prescription drug copayments
  • Dental deductibles and coinsurance

Note: If you and your spouse each carry a Self-only coverage, claims can be automatically reimbursed only for the FSA participant who is also the enrollee.

You must continue to submit certain other out-of-pocket FSA expenses to FSAFEDS2 on their paper form by mail or fax, including the following:

  • Primary Care Physician (PCP) copayments
  • Copayments for Radiology and Laboratory services
  • Out-of-pocket expenses for the Dental Discount Plan
  • Denied claims or medical benefits not covered under the FEHB program

You have the right to appeal a denied claim for FSA benefits by writing to FSAFEDS at the following address:
FSAFEDS Program, P.O. Box 36880, Louisville, KY 40233-6880

Paperless reimbursement does not change your relationship with your physician or health care practitioners. You are expected to meet your deductible, copayment and co-insurance obligations as specified in your FEHB brochure (or MAMSI Life and Health Insurance Company Explanation of Coverage for Comprehensive Dental).

To sign up for paperless reimbursement, or to get complete program details, contact the FSAFEDS Program at 1-877-FSA-FEDS (372-3337). Benefits counselors are available to assist you from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, Monday through Friday. TTY: 1-800-952-0450. Or visit online at   www.FSAFEDS.com.
