MAMSI SPONSORS SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE
Frederick, Md. - The first day of school included an unexpected surprise for students at three Frederick schools as they received a delivery of needed school supplies donated by employees of Mid Atlantic Medical Services, Inc. (MAMSI).
MAMSI employees donated nine boxes of school supplies for students at Ballenger Creek Middle School, Ballenger Elementary School and Orchard Grove Elementary School. The supplies included such standard school fare as backpacks, notebooks, calculators, pens, pencils, crayons, paper, batteries and attire including blue jeans and toiletries. MAMSI also made a cash donation.
"We're proud of the commitment our employees have made to the community," stated Cathy Fridell, MAMSI's Executive Vice President of Claims. "Their hard work and giving spirit has made a difference in the lives of Frederick's schoolchildren."
MAMSI employees held car washes every Saturday during the summer to raise money to purchase the supplies. Employees also placed donation boxes in the various departments of the Company to collect school items.
MAMSI is one of the largest employers in Frederick, employing over 1,300 employees. MAMSI is one of the mid-Atlantic region's largest managed care companies, with subsidiaries covering 1.8 million lives in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Delaware, West Virginia, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
