Appoint C. Franklin Church, M.D.
As Medical Director for North Carolina

Raleigh, N.C. -- Optimum Choice of the Carolinas, Inc. and MAMSI Life and Health Insurance Company today announced the appointment of C. Franklin Church, M.D., a former President of the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians, as Medical Director for North Carolina.

In his new post, Dr. Church will be responsible for all aspects of utilization review, pre-certification, case review, and other medical director duties. Optimum Choice of the Carolinas, Inc. and MAMSI Life and Health Insurance Company are subsidiaries of MAMSI Health Plans—one of the largest managed care organizations in the mid-Atlantic region.

Prior to his present post at MAMSI, Dr. Church was President and Chairman of the Board of North Carolina Medical Associates, a large medical care group in the Research Triangle area. His clinical experience includes 30 years in private practice. In addition, he founded Raleigh Family Physicians, a large primary care physician group in the Research Triangle area. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Duke University Medicine and completed his residency at Duke Medical Center. He is board-certified in family medicine.
