Important Announcement

Effective September 1, 2006, the Consultant Treatment Plan (CTP) for all services (except behavioral health) will no longer be required. Primary Care Physicians will now be able to enjoy greater flexibility when referring MD-Individual Practice Association, Inc. (M.D. IPA) and Optimum Choice, Inc. (Optimum Choice) members to Specialists. Beginning September 1, 2006, Primary Care Physicians may write a Referral for up to four (4) visits in a six (6) month period.

Click Here to view/print a quick reference sheet outlining the Referral policy.

Effective October 1, 2006, UnitedHealthcare's Physician, Health Care Professional, Facility and Ancillary Provider Administrative Guide and the new Mid-Atlantic Regional Supplement, together with additional protocols and payment policies, will replace and supersede the Manual for Physicians and Health Care Practitioners and the Facility Manual for all M.D. IPA, Optimum Choice, MAMSI Life and Health Insurance Company (MLH) and Alliance PPO, LLC (Alliance) customers.

If there are any inconsistencies between the Physician, Health Care Professional, Facility and Ancillary Provider Administrative Guide and the new Mid-Atlantic Regional Supplement, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Supplement prevails for M.D. IPA, Optimum Choice, MLH and Alliance customers.
