from an extensive portfolio of health care plans encompassing:
HMO (Health Maintenance Organization):
A network of physicians, other health care practitioners and facilities
that provides a wide spectrum of health care services. Our HMOs
include: MD-Individual Practice Association, Inc. (M.D. IPA) and Optimum
Choice, Inc. (OCI).
POS (Point of Service): A network of physicians, health
care practitioners and facilities that allows members to seek care from any physician,
health care practitioner or facility, with or without a referral from a primary
care physician. Out of pocket expenses will vary, depending upon whether a physician,
health care practitioner or facility is in the POS network and whether the member
has a referral from a primary care physician. Our POS plans include MD-Individual
Practice Association, Inc. (M.D. IPA) Preferred and Optimum Choice, Inc.(OCI)
Preferred.
PPO (Preferred Provider Organization):
A network-based plan that encourages members to receive covered
services from preferred physicians, health care practitioners or
facilities. Members may use other health care practitioners or facilities,
but generally will have higher out-of-pocket costs and more administrative
tasks if they do. Available through MAMSI Life and Health Insurance
Company.
Indemnity: What was once the "traditional"
medical plan: members pay for medical services, then are reimbursed
according to a fixed price schedule. Available through MAMSI Life
and Health Insurance Company. We offer health care plans in
Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and West Virginia.
